Adah Sharma's Epic 'Kerala Chronicles' Hits OTT – Mark Your Calendar Now
Adah Sharma is gearing up for the ZEE5 release of her film, "The Kerala Chronicles," directed by Sudipto Sen and backed by Vipul Shah. Exciting news about the film's OTT debut was shared by Adah on her Instagram account.
In her social media announcement, Adah expressed her anticipation, revealing, "FINALLY !!!!! SURPRISE !! The much-awaited film is set to hit ZEE5 soon! #TheKeralaChronicles will premiere on 16th February, exclusively on #ZEE5.
The Kerala Chronicles" narrates the stories of three young women - Shalini (Adah Sharma), Nimah (Yogita Bihani), and Geetanjali (Siddhi Idnani). Influenced by their roommate, Asifa (Sonia Balani), they find themselves compelled to embrace a different faith.
The film unfolds in two segments: the first depicting the manipulative journey leading to their religious conversion, and the second focusing on Shalini's transformation into Fatima Ba, a member of a terrorist group, and her subsequent detainment in Afghanistan. The narrative also sheds light on the indoctrination of men, who, under the guise of love, sought to convert Hindu and Christian women from Kerala, enticing them to participate in conflict zones. These startling events unfolded between 2018-19, involving a growing number of Kerala youth being influenced by a terrorist organization.
Adah Sharma shared her emotions about the film's OTT release, commending the dedication of its creators. She remarked, "The fearless creators of The Kerala Chronicles, Vipul Shah, and Sudipto Sen, deserve applause for their tremendous efforts in bringing this film to life." Following the film's noteworthy success at the box office, Adah is thrilled about reaching a broader audience through ZEE5.
Equally enthusiastic about the OTT premiere, Vipul Amrutlal Shah shared, "The Kerala Chronicles is set to premiere on ZEE5, promising an extraordinary experience from the comfort of your home. There are numerous moments in the film that warrant rewinding and rewatching.
Director Sudipto Sen acknowledged the sensitive nature of the film's topic and the challenges in translating it into a cinematic experience. He encouraged those who haven't seen the film to watch it on ZEE5 for a transformative experience, emphasizing the authenticity of the stories and characters portrayed.
The film faced controversy with its trailer release, claiming 32,000 women went missing from Kerala. This led to objections, with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee labeling it a 'distorted story.' The initial ban in West Bengal was lifted after the Supreme Court intervened, and the film proceeded to become one of the successful box office hits of the previous year. "The Kerala Chronicles" is scheduled to premiere on ZEE5 on February 16.
