On Friday, Poonam Pandey's team made a startling announcement, asserting that the model-actor had succumbed to cervical cancer at the age of 32. However, the following day, Poonam herself took to Instagram to dispel the rumors and affirm her continued well-being. 

Initially, her manager stated on Friday that Poonam had passed away on Thursday night due to cervical cancer. The official Instagram account also shared a post mourning her supposed demise. In contrast to these assertions, Poonam posted videos on Instagram on Saturday, confirming that she is very much alive. This turn of events has triggered a wave of criticism from social media users and celebrities alike.

The internet has erupted with disapproval towards Poonam, with Twitter and Instagram flooded with posts and comments condemning her actions. Many users accused her of orchestrating a publicity stunt, with one stating, "As expected! All of this was a publicity stunt! All the people who were questioning her were right!" Another tweet called her the "biggest fraud," describing her actions as "beyond shameless."

Celebrities, including those who were once friends within the industry, are not forgiving her for what they perceive as an 'insensitive' joke. Kusha Kapila responded to the news of Poonam's publicity stunt, saying, "Here is an agency behind this. Someone actually came up with the idea and also greenlit it. I cannot."

While Poonam's unexpected 'death' prompted mourning from fans and celebrities on Friday, doubts arose about the authenticity of the news, the cause of death, and her family's conspicuous silence.

In a post shared on Poonam Pandey's official Instagram account on Friday, her team confirmed her demise, attributing it to cervical cancer. The post read, "This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer." Poonam's manager, Nikita Sharma, emphasized her commitment to work and unwavering spirit amid health struggles, calling attention to the importance of prioritizing health, especially in cases of preventable diseases like cervical cancer.


The lack of communication from Poonam Pandey's family raised suspicions, with reports stating that they were unreachable after her shocking announcement. Attempts to contact them were unsuccessful, as their phones were either switched off or unreachable. A source revealed, "We tried calling Poonam’s sister after our last call with her, but ever since, her phone has been switched off. Not only that, but her other family members are also not reachable. We tried to get in touch with 2-3 members of Poonam’s team as well, and, surprisingly, everybody’s phone is either switched off or unreachable. Hence, we are also confused at this moment."
